Course Description:

One Quarter

Open to grades 10, 11 and 12

Prerequisite: Child Development 0-2 and Child Development 3-5.


Do you see yourself pursuing a career working with children in an early childhood care setting?  If so, this course is designed to help you jump start your career. Through hands-on activities this course introduces you to the early childhood profession.  Throughout the quarter we will look at strategies that support diversity and anti-bias perspectives, investigate the history of early childhood education, summarize the types of early childhood education settings, identify components of a quality program, summarize responsibilities of early childhood education professionals, and explore early childhood curriculum models. 


Students completing the requirements may receive certification in Shaken Baby Syndrome and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Trainings.
